The radicals.
There are those who are further to the right of Restore. I don’t think that Restore is a nationalist party. It organically puts the indigenous first and in doing so has moved further to the right of Reform but it is not the BNP (British National Party), for example. Even ex BNP member Simon Tomlin says so.
Restore will celebrate pride in the indigenous people’s culture and heritage but it is not a party just for the “white, British and proud.” That is more of a nationalist message.
It is not a message that I take issue with as every country has their nationalism and there are some English nationalists, notably Alek Yerbury, who have said they would accept non whites in their party. He has been a complete gentleman to me in our interactions on X. However, as he is not a Restore supporter, I don’t trump his horn too much. He is a nationalist and for now, English nationalism is not something I am involved in. Though I have enjoyed taking in a more nuanced picture than what I was presented with as a young girl.
I like the message of Restore and will continue to support them. I have liked Rupert Lowe for a long time. To be fair, I have also been critical of the movement before it became a party. It’s all there in my writing because I am honest about my political journey.
The best way to understand a party though, for those who still say they are confused, is to read their policy. In these days, there is no excuse especially as social media often presents bullet points of policies.
Anyway, it doesn’t matter to me if you support Reform or Advance even. I may wonder at you if still support Labour and especially the Greens but hey we are supposed to be living in a democracy. My post is not about laying into people with different opinions. Unlike Narinder Kaur who on X, says she is cutting off people who support Reform. (Reform she sees as extreme!)
I do have something to say about the actual extreme, the sway from what is moderate to what is radical and no, I don’t think this is all that nuanced. I shall give you an example.
Wanting every non white to be deported is a radical move, in my opinion. This is also not Restore policy as I said to someone who hijacked Candid With Lubna’s comments section yesterday. I call it hijacking because they deliberately chose her channel and deliberately targeted myself (based on my name and I think my being a woman also). The comment was typical “you are going to be deported” all with a facetious “sorry.”
I told them what I thought of that.
The reason I mention this is because they clearly supported the Steve Laws principle of just typing deport every time they see a non white person in Britain. Steve is a radical in my opinion or according to nationalist Simon Tomlin, a paid actor who says things and takes the punches. Pushes the Overton window..that sort of thing.
Steve supports Restore but he is not part of the policy making.
As I saw with previous so called right wing parties like UKIP and what Reform used to be, I am quite happy for the radicals to exit the party- organically. The leader does not need to say anything but just keep building their party. The right people for the party will come and those who feel it isn’t for them will leave.
This is the beauty of a democracy and what I think is the beauty in what Rupert is doing with Restore because there is a bigger picture outside of all of this.
I am also aware there will be those who are deliberately muddying waters and taking delight in some small inner issue. There is someone, whom I think is an influencer type just out there to build up her brand rather than Restore, who says some members of the youth branch will not be speaking to her based on her recent X posts.
She has made it into a free speech issue but I personally can see the nuance in her situation based on her X post. As there will be bad faith actors reading this, I am not going into it and giving you ammunition. However, if it turns out that this girl is too radical for Restore and she leaves, I consider it a good thing. Anyway, it’s all being looked into and the way I see it is that those on the right will understand what Restore stands for and that it cannot possibly be for everyone on the right.
It’s the same principle as- if you stand for everything then you stand for nothing.
For the time being I cannot see that (still very liberal) Britain will accept a radical movement on the right. This is not so for the left because we have the Green Party, optically summed up by the alliance between Islamists and men dressing as women. That is a whole other post but for now, I just wanted to briefly address the radicals on the right.
I will also say I am not blind. I know there are some who do not know my history, make assumptions about me and think I shouldn’t even write about such things. Oh well. I enjoy it and I thank you for reading.
For those with children sitting their SATS next week, I wish you luck and all the best.
